If you have just one free day in Split, pick Krka for an easy, family-friendly waterfall trip only an hour away. Choose Plitvice if you want to see Croatia's most stunning landscape and are okay with a 2.5- to 3-hour drive each way. Both parks charge €40 for a peak-season adult ticket in 2026, so the main differences are in travel time, scenery, and crowds.
Both parks are included in our main guide to day trips from Split, along with the islands, Mostar, and other destinations.
The Quick Answer
- If you're short on time, traveling with kids, or prefer a relaxed pace, choose Krka. It's just an hour away, and the boardwalk loop can be done in a morning. You can take boat rides, and you'll be back in Split by late afternoon.
- If you want to see a bucket-list landscape and are fine with a 12- to 13-hour day, go for Plitvice. With sixteen terraced lakes and UNESCO status since 1979, it's truly on another level.
